About Us

The Scottish Waste Awareness Group (SWAG) was set up in 2000.  SWAG manages the national campaign, Waste Aware Scotland.  Waste Aware Scotland* is the campaign that promotes your local household recycling facilities. For example, Waste Aware campaigns are used to promote your recycling bins at home and your local Recycling Centres and Points.

Waste Aware Schools is a more recent online project that promotes recycling in schools. Pupils can find out how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle at school. They can also choose and print Waste Aware Posters to promote recycling in schools. The poster designs were created especially for schools following discussion groups with pupils and trials in schools. The design of the posters also reflects the Waste Aware Scotland campaign, which pupils will be familiar with at home.

* Waste Aware Scotland is a programme of Keep Scotland Beautiful. Keep Scotland Beautiful is an operating name of Environmental Campaigns (Scotland). Scottish Charity Number SC030332. The Waste Aware Schools campaign is funded by the Scottish Government, as part of their commitment to a Greener Scotland.
