Waste Aware Schools is run in partnership with Eco Schools Scotland.
Eco Schools is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action for the environment. It is an environmental management tool, learning resource and recognised award scheme.
The Eco Schools Scotland programme is made up of seven steps, incorporating eight environmental topics.
Once a school has registered on the programme and implemented these seven steps, it can apply for an Eco Schools award.
Waste Minimisation is one of the eight key topics that Eco Schools can focus on. The Waste Aware Schools website provides comprehensive information about this vital area, and advice on how to promote the ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ message in your school.
